The Party Planning

One of the things I love about the scrapping community is how friendly, approachable and giving they are (if you ignore the smack blog!). So many wonderful people have replied to my VIP guest invite for the party and designers from all over the place including Germany, Australia and America are putting together projects for us all. I'm very excited :) There's going to be a digi giveaway, some spring loveliness and more LOs than you have album space for, not to mention some ideas of expressing your craftiness in other ways. I hope that you'll all reserve the third weekend in March and invite all your friends x

A seed is planted

So my post yesterday gave me an idea. It's my Birthday next month and I thought I'd be totally self indulgent and celebrate with a Birthday Blog Bash. The idea is that I'll have 33 blogs to hop (one for each year of my life) with some inspirational tutorials, challenges and idea pages for you all to bash. So I've designed a blinkie and invited my favourite designers...watch this space!!!

Photo inspiration

The challenge on 'The Studio' this week is to use this photo as inspiration:
My first thought was 'Okay!'. But then as I thought about it I realised that it might lend itself to a LO I've been meaning to do for about a year and a half after I saw a LO on UKS with the title 'Terms of endearment'. Connor says such sweet and funny things that I really wanted to write them down on a LO. The photo has one sweetcorn on it's own and then others in rows. Not only that but each kernal makes the cob sort of segmented and divided. So I used that as my inspiration and came up with this LO. I hope you can see what I'm getting at :) I wanted to use some circles to show the bowl that the corn is in and since it's designed to go next to the first day at nursery page I did last week, I thought I'd sew them on to match. Hope you like it :)
Materials:
Sassafras lass patterened paper
American Crafts Thickers
Embroidery thread

14th February Challenge: The Studio

If you haven't been checking out the weekly challenges on 'The Studio' then you should be! They're a lot of fun and the DT take on them are inspiring. The challenge this Sunday was to scrap the love of your life (even if that's a bar of chocolate) without using red :) In the snow this year I realised just how much I love my car. I feel very safe and secure in it and it didn't let me down in the snow. So I dedicate this page to my car, one of the loves of my life. Is that really sad?? LOL. Oh well! Now, spot the mistake...
I was merrily scrapping away and finished the LO and then thought 'Oh cr*p!' because i'd put two stickers on that had red on. But it's tough because they look good and are staying.

Kiss the cook

The challenge on UKS this week was to scrap change, use ten of something, use a fancy edge and use red. In previous years I've found myself doing LOs just to fulfil the criteria of the challenge, without really ending up with a LO that I like so this year I'm trying to make the challenge work with the photos I want to use that week. Yesterday was Pancake Day. I love Pancake Day and so does Connor. So the change link is tenuous because my change is the batter becoming a pancake, but I did fulfil all the other criteria. There are ten circles on the LO, it's on a fancy edged cardstock and there is some red in it.

For group 1 it came from Debbie and was this one;I received it on Valentine's day and took this photo especially. Today is the day to email the first round of the Chinese Whispers CJ and this is the LO I created using Plumtree's LO to lift from. Her LO (Funny faces) was just gorgeous and I really wanted to do it justice. I hope that I did

AMOP CJ

This CJ seems to have come and gone very quickly and we're already signing up for the next one. My latest entry was in to the 'Alton Towers' CJ and I chose the pirate ships photos. A big thank you to Leigh for giving me some Rusty Pickle pirate papers for this one :)

Drum roll please...

Thank you for taking part in my challenge. I love to see how different the LOs that are created from a sketch or scraplift are :) There were two lots of goodies up for grabs this month and they go to Julie for this LO;
I love the paint and all that bling.

And Leigh for this one.
The thready ribbon type stuff works really well with the lashes.

Thank you ladies for your lovely entries.

February Challenge

If, like me, you've already made your Valentine's card then you're ahead of the game on this month's challenge. Since February is the month of love and giving a card to show that love this month's challenge is a card related one. I realise that Valentine's day is just upon us so it doesn't have to be a Valentine's card (Mother's Day is only a month away!) but the challenge is to make a card to give to someone else to tell them that they are important to you. Here is my Valentine's card that I'll be sending this year.
Please add a link to the comments section by midnight Friday 12th March if you'd like to be in with a chance of winning a February themed kit, when I randomly select someone.

Studio Challenge Sunday

And it is the first of the challenges that I am officially involved in in my role as a Design Team member :) So the challenge is;

' If I were a boy...create a page based around the idea of what life would be like if you were a member of the opposite sex. What would be better about it? What would you miss?'. I spent quite a long time on just finding the right photo for this one. I did find these ones;

because obviously being able to pee without having to queue for a loo, or even find a loo is the most appealing part of being a guy (IYAM!). But in the end I decided to take a picture of a couple of jelly babies. I was lucky to get the shot though as a small person snuck up on me and ate the lady jelly baby after only three shots! And here is my finished LO.

All My Own Photos CJ February Posting

I hate to wasted paper and after making the LO for the UKS challenge the week before last I had lots of lovely paper from Indigo Mill left. It came in really handy for my latest UKS CJ entry in the 'All my own photos' CJ for Beth. Her CJ is about her trip to Newcastle and the photos are of two bridges in Newcastle.
